This piece was made during the summer of 2026 on the Ross of Mull. During her stay, Connie completed a series of plein air sketches, often beginning with these small, loose pieces as a way of capturing a fleeting moment in the landscape.
Grass Tide was painted following a few days of rain, when the greens of the landscape were illuminated by dew and the sun began to warm through the grey, bleakness of the weather. The fresh light brought a renewed richness to the grass and surrounding landscape, capturing that moment when the weather begins to shift and the land seems to come alive again.
