This piece was made during the summer of 2026 on the Ross of Mull. During her stay, Connie completed a series of plein air sketches, often beginning with these small, loose pieces as a way of capturing a fleeting moment in the landscape.
Sun Melt was an attempt to capture that last bit of hot, fiery magic from the sun as it begins to disappear, with the water slowly absorbing the darkness of the approaching night. The warmth of the fading light lingers across the sea, caught in the shifting colours and loose, expressive marks of the painting.
